The road to SUCCESS

I’m excited and honored to write this letter of introduction to you as the new Principal of Cooper Elementary School. What a blessing to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of excellence! Cooper is my hometown, and I graduated from Cooper ISD in 1991. This year is my 23rd in education with 21 of those being in elementary. I've taught 1st grade; Elementary Physical Education; Assistant Principal of a 1st-5th grade campus in Tyler-Chapel Hill; Academic Specialist of a 5th grade campus in Sulphur Springs and most recently Cooper Junior High Principal. The staff and leadership team at Cooper Elementary School will continue to focus on character education initiatives through Rachel’s Challenge, AVID instructional strategies in the areas of writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading ( WICOR), the use of data to drive instruction, response to intervention (RTI), enrichment, and will consistently implement a rigorous curriculum to help increase student achievement. 2019 promises to be a year of great opportunities and I’m eager to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success at Cooper Elementary! Sincerely, Julie Silman
