Shepherd’s Call Jesus said, “I will send a spark from Poland to prepare the world for my second coming.” Those words were a private revelation; we are not obligated to believe them. However, I think it is a good description of the message of Divine Mercy given to Sr. Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun who lived from 1905-1938. After Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, they hid themselves from God. Divine Mercy is an invitation for us to stop hiding and receive the medicine of Mercy. Those who participate in Divine Mercy devotions (at Queen of Peace) are able to obtain a plenary indulgence. May is a beautiful month. It is busy with graduations and graduation parties, but beautiful. It is beautiful as we have some warm days and green and colors from nature. Another beautiful May tradition is the May Crowning devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary is the Queen of Peace, and honoring her is a step toward peace in homes and in the world. Now that Lent has ended and I am not helping at a penance service each week, I will be setting appointments for marriage preparation with engaged couples. If you or a family member recently got engaged encourage them to contact a parish. I recommend that marriage preparation begin at least nine months before the desired date of the wedding. Our youth group meets tonight and next Sunday. Next Sunday is the last LifeNight of the school year. I would be thrilled if we have 2-6 new adult volunteers join our youth ministry team over the summer! Contact Randi Hom or the parish office to learn more. Next weekend is First Communion weekend at all Masses at St. Julie Billiart. Congratulations to the families of children who received Holy Communion for the first time at St. Joseph this weekend. Take courage in Jesus, our Risen Lord! In Christ,
