With a beautiful sunset behind them and hundreds of family members and friends cheering them on, 313 Port Chester High School seniors graduated from the district.

Con un maravilloso crepúsculo detrás de ellos, y cientos de familiares y amigos alentandolos, 313 estudiantes de Port Chester se graduaron.

On June 22, the community gathered at Port Chester High School to celebrate the memorable culmination of the students’ secondary education. Wearing the district’s traditional royal blue gowns, the children accepted their diplomas. When they were declared graduates, they whipped their caps into the air and hugged one another tightly. Overheard at Graduation: “With technology, our ability to further educate ourselves is limitless. Our smart phones and computers are the gateways to our own further education. Use them as learning tools. Dig into topics of interest. … Use the technology of today to better understand the technology of the future. Whether our next chapter involves formal education or not, we should make it our goal to continue learning and expanding our minds.” — Valedictorian William Brakewood “I challenge you to find your own individual success. Set your own goals based on your individual abilities, and find fulfillment in accomplishing what you set forth to do. If you immerse yourself in what you love to do and you put all of your effort into that, then success will follow.” — Salutatorian Grace Simmons “The concepts of selflessness and of giving back to others are sometimes ignored or forgotten in our race to get ahead, but they are the easiest way to be a hero to humanity. Make a difference! Remember that what you do lives after you, so make sure that your legacy is one that leaves the world better off for you having been in it, better off than when you entered it.” — Principal Dr. Mitchell Combs “You are now embarking on your own adventures and many exciting and rewarding experiences await you. Be sure to continue to strive daily and commit to extending yourself further each day towards your own life’s adventure and success. Remember that success is the product of hard work and diligence.” — Superintendent Dr. Edward Kliszus

Este 22 de junio, la comunidad se congregó en la escuela secundaria de Port Chester para celebrar la memorable culminación de los estudios de secundaria. Vistiendo el tradicional azul en las togas, los estudiantes recibieron sus diplomas. Cuando se les declaró graduados, rápidamente lanzaron sus birretes al aire y se abrazaron fuertemente. Haz que tus metas estén basadas en tus habilidades individuales, y encuentren satisfacción en lograr lo que quieras hacer. Si te sumerges en lo que amas y lo que quieres hacer, el éxito te seguirá.” — Salutatorian Grace Simmons “El concepto de desinterés y de retornar a otros es algo que a veces ignoramos o olvidamos en nuestra competencia para ser los mejores, ya que eso es la forma de convertirnos en héroes en nuestra sociedad.
