PROGRAM POLICIES  A minimum of 2 caregivers are required to hold a class NO EXCEPTIONS. If the minimum is not met (after 30 minutes waiting period) class will

be CANCELLED  Participants will have a 15 minute grace period, participants arriving over 15 minutes late after class has started, will not receive ANY credit NO

EXCEPTIONS!  Any type of soliciting is NOT permitted at any FKCE/ILP classes (e.g. donations, outside agencies, religious/spiritual beliefs, etc.)  College Parking - Permits are REQUIRED for main campus parking. Please contact the FKCE/ILP Office to make arrangements for FREE on

PROGRAMS OFFERED: FOSTER/KINSHIP CARE EDUCATION (FKCE) The FKCE Program provides quality education and support to caregivers in order to meet the educational, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of children and youth in out-of-home care. B, D, F, whole IN-SERVICE (RENEWAL) English and Spanish classes/trainings for foster and kinship (relative) caregivers are offered throughout the year. ALL CLASSES are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. D and F-RATE PRE-SERVICE The 16-hour Pre-Service Certification trainings for D (emotional/behavioral difficulties) and F (medically fragile) Rates are available in English and Spanish throughout the year. WFFH PRE-SERVICE The 16-hour Pre-Service Certification training is available twice per year. A WFFH home provides foster care and support for a minor parent and his/her independent child. KINSHIP ORIENTATION/EDUCATIONAL GROUPS The Kinship Orientation provides overview of aspects of the DCFS system as it pertains to relative caregivers. All Kinship educational classes are specifically designed to meet the unique needs and challenges of relatives (grandparents, siblings, aunts/uncles, cousins, and non-related extended family members) caring for children in out of home care. YOUTH EMPOWERMENT STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS-Independent Living Program (YESS-ILP) This program provides services, mentoring, and life-skills training to transitioning foster youth ages 16-21. YESS-California aims to help current and former foster youth transition successfully into self-sufficiency and adulthood. GUARDIAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM A support program for current & former foster youth attending Rio Hondo College that provides: -Counseling -Support and assistance with registration/financial aid -Priority registration (if eligible) -Independent Living Workshops -Book Vouchers/supplies -Access to computer and snack pantry -Access to available on and off campus resources/programs. PROGRAMAS OFRECIDOS: FOSTER / KINSHIP CARE EDUCATION (FKCE) El Programa FKCE provee educación de calidad y apoyo a los padres de crianza para satisfacer las necesidades educativas, emocionales, conductuales y de desarrollo de niños y jóvenes que se encuentran en cuidado fuera de su propio hogar.

B, D, F, W-TARIFA EN-SERVICIO (RENOVACIÓN) Se ofrecen clases / entrenamientos de inglés y español para los cuidadores de crianza y de familiares durante todo el año. TODAS LAS CLASES son GRATIS y ABIERTAS AL PÚBLICO.

D y F-TARIFA PRE-SERVICIO Los cursos de 16 horas de certificación pre-servicio para la tarifa “D” (dificultades emocionales / de comportamiento) y la tarifa “F” (médicamente frágiles) están disponibles en inglés y español durante todo el año. WFFH PRE-SERVICIO El entrenamiento de 16 horas de Certificación Pre-Servicio está disponible dos veces por año. Este entrenamiento es específicamente para un padre de crianza que cuida a un joven menor de edad quien es o va hacer padre/madre y también cuida al bebe.

ORIENTACIÓN DE KINSHIP / GRUPOS EDUCATIVOS La orientación de parentesco proporciona una visión general de los aspectos del sistema de DCFS, ya que pertenece a los cuidadores o parientes de familia quien cuida de otro familiar. Todas las clases educativas de Kinship están específicamente diseñadas para satisfacer las necesidades y desafíos únicos de los familiares (abuelos, hermanos, tías / tíos, primos y miembros de la familia extensa no relacionados).

STRATEGIAS DE EMPODERAMIENTO PARA EL TRIUNFO- PROGRAMA DE VIDA INDEPENDIENTE (YESS-ILP) Estrategias de Empoderamiento de los Jóvenes para el Éxito (Programa de Vida Independiente) Este programa provee servicios, mentoría y entrenamiento de habilidades para la vida, las clases son diseñadas para jóvenes de 16 a 21 años de edad. YESSCalifornia tiene como objetivo ayudar a la transición de jóvenes que están actualmente o estuvieron en Foster Care a alcanzar la autosuficiencia y la edad adulta.

GUARDIAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM Un programa de apoyo para jóvenes de crianza actuales y anteriores que asisten al Colegio de Rio Hondo y proporciona los siguientes servicios: -Asesoramiento -Apoyo y asistencia con el registro/ ayuda financiera. -Registro de prioridad (si es elegible) -Talleres de vivienda independiente. -Dinero para comida y utensilios -Acceso a computadora -Acceso a los recursos / programas disponibles dentro y fuera de la escuela

Is there a fee for FKCE classes/trainings? No. All our classes/trainings are FREE. ¿Hay un costo para tomar las clases/entrenamiento? No todas las clases/entrenamientos son GRATIS. Will I receive a certificate for attending the class/training? A certificate of attendance will be given at the end of each class/training or at the conclusion of a program that meets more than once. ¿Recibiré un certificado por asistir a la clase/entrenamiento? I am not a foster parent or relative caregiver, but would still like to attend classes/trainings. Is this possible? Yes. Even though our target population is foster parents and relative caregivers, classes/trainings are open to the community including social workers, group home staff, family, and friends. Frequently Asked Questions Preguntas Frecuentes What is the difference between the Pre-Service and the In-Service (Renewal) Classes? Pre-Service Training, is for first time certification ONLY and cannot be used for certification renewal purposes. Renewal hours must be completed yearly to keep your certification current and hours vary depending on rate. ¿Qué es la diferencia entre el Pre-Servicio y las Clases/Entrenamientos de Renovación?
