como Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 1982, los poblados ultramarinos de Regla y Casablanca como testigos de los principales sitios por donde arribaron los emigrantes españoles hasta la primera mitad del siglo XX, las calles y los lugares donde vivieron y trabajaron, sus liceos, sus casas de salud y sus centros de beneficencia, hasta la Necrópolis de Colón en cuyos panteones encontraron su última morada y descansan para siempre emigrante naturales de Galicia, Cataluña, Ortiguera, Aragón y Valle de Oro, entre otras sociedades españolas. La arquitectura es uno de esos valores culturales que por su monumentalidad y singular belleza acompaña permanentemente al visitante durante toda su estancia. A cada paso, aparecen referentes obligados de los principales estilos arquitectónicos, desde el mudéjar hasta el modernismo, que adaptados a las condiciones y los materiales locales y, asumidos en su mayoría por desconocidos maestros de obra, reflejan inequívocamente su origen peninsular. Conservadas edificaciones de los siglos XVI y XVII muestran al visitante impresionantes muros de carga reforzados por contrafuertes y pilastras, techos de alfarje y a dos aguas, balcones volados, paredes decoradas con asombrosas pinturas murales o cerámica vitrificada y fabulosos patios interiores con antiguos aljibes y plantas ornamentales. Majestuosas construcciones domésticas, civiles y religiosas que datan de los siglos XVIII y XIX dan fe del barroquismo y sustancia ecléctica de La Habana. Inmuebles cuya multiplicidad de formas apostó, con asombrosa sobriedad, primero por la línea curva como elemento básico del diseño, la búsqueda de los claros oscuros en las fachadas, la aparición del soportal, el uso de columnas y volutas ornamentales y el predominio del balance simétrico en la composición, pero luego, por la línea recta y las influencias neoclásicas que trajeron consigo techos planos, lucetas de medio punto con cristales de colores traslúcidos, frontones, bajorrelieves y el uso del hierro en rejas, barandas, portafaroles, guardavecinos y guardacantones de inusitada belleza. Considerados verdaderos íconos arquitectónicos del eclecticismo en el siglo XX habanero, los antiguos Centros Gallego y Asturiano hoy sirven de sede al Gran Teatro de La Habana y al Edificio de Arte Universal del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes respectivamente, prestigiosas instituciones culturales de imprescindible presencia en los programas de estancia en la capital cubana. Por su parte, la oferta gastronómica de la Isla evoca la marcada influencia de la cocina española en la cultura culinaria cubana. A través de España llegaron a Cuba alimentos y especias imprescindibles en la dieta del cubano, tales como el arroz, los granos y algunos vegetales, así como yerbas aromáticas de uso habitual y extendido en la cocina local, como el ajo, la cebolla, el perejil, el orégano, la albahaca, el cilantro y el anís. Desafiando el sofocante calor tropical, las ofertas gastronómicas recrean incesantemente platos

calientes de la cocina española, siempre ajustados a la disponibilidad de sus ingredientes, como son los potajes de garbanzos, guisantes y lentejas, los asados en púa, los fritos en gran variedad de frituras, bollos y croquetas, los arroces amarillos con pollo, carne de cerdo o pescado, junto a otras delicias como los mariscos y las tapas. Especialmente atractivo para el viajero resulta el apasionante mundo del habano, que tanto debe a siglos de influencia canaria y andaluza, y que brinda enormes posibilidades de acercamiento a las labores del cultivo y mejoramiento de la hoja, así como al arte de su manufactura y a su degustación en maridajes de excepción con mezclas de café y con rones de producción nacional. En antiguas fábricas y estancos especializados el viajero encuentra la más variada oferta de marcas y vitolas para su propio deleite o para obsequiar a familiares y amigos. Asombrosas pueden resultarle también al viajero las múltiples similitudes de los pueblos español y cubano en la devoción de la religiosidad popular, en la pronunciación peculiar del castellano, en la preferencia de formas poéticas como la décima, en la vigencia de las danzas regionales y en los ambientes recreados, pero sobre todo, en el aporte indeleble de sucesivas migraciones españolas a la formación de la nacionalidad criolla, en la herencia notable de aquellos españoles que llegaron a Cuba a trabajar y a luchar junto a los cubanos, los que fundaron sus propios negocios y crearon sus familias, y de todos aquellos, que con su anónima laboriosidad ayudaron a forjar el país; aportando valores distintivos de la idiosincrasia del cubano como la honradez, el sentido del honor, la hospitalidad, la generosidad y la rebeldía. Sala de concierto “Ignacio Cervantes” inaugurada en el año 2011 por la Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad en el antiguo Salón Dorado del otrora Casino Español de La Habana, hoy Palacio de los Matrimonios del paseo del Prado. Decorado con pinturas, vitrales y escudos de las entonces 49 provincias españolas y el correspondiente al Consejo de Piloña, tiene capacidad para 200 personas. For the traveller interested in unravelling the mystery behind the unbreakable bonds that unite Cubans and Spaniards, Havana and the rest of the island offer singular opportunities to learn more about the history that both countries share. You’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in the story of its protagonists and in the incomparable legacy of the hundreds of thousands of emigrants who left their stamp on an equally extraordinary city. Take the time to glimpse the identity of people marked by the influence, assimilation and fusion of diverse cultures

and ethnicities. Havana, in particular, possesses a unique charm. It’s a special mystery that, according to the city’s historian Dr Eusebio Leal Spengler, is the result of "a meeting between the environment and people." Havana is a baroque city: not in the traditional stylistic sense, since the architecture is a mix of everyone’s personal preferences, but because of its customs. Havana is the extraordinary result of an amazing melting pot. The city is a state of being, an atmosphere; it’s a place covered by a veil of

decadence. No matter where that veil is pierced, Havana emerges to say “here I am!” And then there are the Habaneros and Cubans with their eyes fixed on the future, on what’s just around the corner, and on novelty; always ready to speak freely and converse with the world as they gaze out to sea. Havana is a place of convergence, openness and multiculturalism. And its people give meaning to the city, ensuring that no single cultural influence becomes overly dominant.” Various specialised themes allow the Spanish traveller to identify, rediscover and interpret Havana’s extremely rich cultural heritage, with direct links to the Galician, Asturian, Canarian, Andalusian, Basque and Catalan communities. Wherever you look, history has left its mark. This includes the iconic lighthouse at the Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro – a symbol of the arrival of the Spanish and an integral part of the beautiful system of military fortifications built around the bay. Its exceptional historical and cultural value meant that it was an influential factor in UNESCO’s decision to declare Havana’s historic centre a world heritage site in 1982. There are also the colonial settlements of Regla and Casablanca, which both bear witness to the arrival of Spanish emigrants until the first half of the twentieth century. You can visit the streets and places where they lived and worked, as well as their secondary schools, clinics and welfare

centres. Take a tour of the Necrópolis de Colón: the final resting place of emigrants with origins in Galicia, Catalonia, Ortiguera, Aragon and Valle de Oro, among other regions in Spain. The architecture is one of those cultural highlights that, because of its monumental character and singular beauty, will accompany visitors throughout their stay. At each step, the usual spectrum of architectural styles that stretches from Mudejar to modernism is apparent. Though adapted to local materials and conditions, and mostly constructed by unknown master builders, they unequivocally reflect their Iberian origin. Buildings preserved from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries showcase their many features: impressive load bearing walls reinforced by buttresses and pilasters, panelled and gabled ceilings, projected balconies, walls decorated with incredible painted murals or glazed ceramic and amazing interior courtyards with antique cisterns and ornamental plants. Majestic civil, religious and domestic buildings dating back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries serve as a testament to the baroque and eclectic nature of Havana. In their many forms, these astonishingly austere buildings testify to the choice of the curved line as the basic design feature, followed by the search for chiaroscuro in the facades, the apparition of the porch, the ▶

We also see the straight line and the neoclassical influences that are evident in the flat ceilings, semicircular fanlights with glass in translucent colours, gables, low-reliefs, and the use of iron in the grilles, handrails, portafaroles, rails and unusually beautiful curb stones. Considered genuine architectural icons of the eclecticism of twentieth-century Havana, the old Centro Gallego and Centro Asturiano serve today as the home of the Gran Teatro de La Habana and as the Edificio de Arte Universal del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, respectively. These cultural institutions are must-see destinations on any travel itinerary through Havana. Moreover, the island’s culinary delights evoke

the strong influence of Spanish cuisine on Cuban gastronomy. Foods and spices that are central to the Cuban diet made their way to the island by way of Spain, including rice, grains and certain vegetables, as well as aromatic herbs used extensively in local cuisine: garlic, onions, parsley, oregano, basil, coriander and aniseed. Defying the suffocating tropical heat, the cuisine faithfully recreates hot Spanish dishes using local ingredients. Punta Allen fue fundado a mediados del siglo XX, un sitio donde dependen principalmente de la pesca de langosta, aunque cada día se proyecta mas como un destino ecoturístico. Pobladores en su mayoría de Cozumel fueron los que habitaban en Cayo Culebras, una isla que producía de 8 a 10 mil toneladas de copra (fruta del cocotero), muy utilizado en aquel tiempo para cocinar y para lámparas de aceite cuando no existía energía eléctrica en la zona. La falta de agua potable hizo que los habitantes del cayo comenzaran la búsqueda de agua dulce en la punta de la tierra que se asomaba rodeada de selva. Gracias al descubrimiento de un río subterráneo los pobladores de Cayo Culebras se mudaron a la parte de la punta y así, en muy poco tiempo se convirtió en un lugar importante para la producción de cocoteros. Fue después del huracán Janet en 1955 que Cayo Culebras quedo sumergido en el agua, sobreviviendo el mangle y una pequeña parte que rodea el faro. Son sus habitantes quienes relatan aquellas historias de un pasado no muy lejano, con una gran sonrisa y emocionados nos comparten: “Era vivir rodeados de amor, donde el dinero no hacia falta, regalábamos un lugar para pasar la noche a cambio de alimentos o enseñanzas” Ellos, amantes de su pedazo de cielo abren sus puertas al “turismo responsable” y piden respeto al visitar este biodiverso ecosistema. Se sabe que no es cien por ciento seguro poder ver un delfín o una tortuga, y si se corre con suerte, es importante guardar cierta distancia. Si se entra a la reserva en auto, respetar los limites de velocidad, usar bronceadores biodegradables, si entra PET a la Reserva, regresarlo como una pertenencia fuera de Punta Allen o bien, preguntar en donde se deposita. Punta Allen Punta Allen is located on a small peninsula nestled in the midst of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a protected area spanning 528,147 hectares. It is blessed with natural beauty which is dutifully cared for by its approximately 600 inhabitants.

Punta Allen was discovered in the mid-20th century, and was a place that depended primarily on lobster fishing, although these days it is seen more and more as an ecotourism destination. Settlers mainly from Cozumel were the first to inhabit Cayo Culebras, an island that produced 8 to 10 thousand tonnes of copra (coconut flesh), widely used in that era for cooking and for oil lamps when electricity was not available throughout the region. The lack of portable water prompted residents of the key to begin the search for fresh water, towards the edge of the land that was surrounded by jungle. Thanks to the discovery of a subterranean river, the settlers of Cayo Culebras moved to that part of the key and very quickly turned it into a major site for coconut palm production. After Hurricane Janet in 1955, Cayo Culebras was nearly completely flooded; fortunately, the mangrove survived the disaster, as did a small area surrounding the lighthouse. Its inhabitants share their memories of a notvery-distant past. With big smiles and much feeling, they tell us: “It was to live surrounded by love, there was no need for money, we offered a place to spend

the night in exchange for food or education.” The residents of this small slice of heaven open their doors to “responsible tourism” and ask travellers for their respect when visiting this biodiverse ecosystem. The chances of sighting a dolphin or tortoise are not one hundred percent, but if you do, it is important to maintain a safe distance. If you come by car, observe speed limits, use biodegradable tanning lotions, and, if you plan to bring PET plastics to the Reserve, please take them with you when you leave Punta Allen, or ask where you may safely dispose of them. The work that the Punta Allen community members do is most admirable and it is a blessing to be able to visit the marvellous Sian Ka’an biosphere, a great source of pride for Quintana Roo. ●

De camino a Salvatierra, pararemos en Dolores Hidalgo a comprar la alfarería tradicional de la ciudad caracterizada por su imaginación y elegancia en tonos azules. Y la historia nos invade al llegar a nuestro destino, Salvatierra, un importante centro religioso y cultural de la época virreinal, utilizado como centro de evangelización del Valle de Huatzindeo y donde las carmelitas descalzas, las capuchinas y los franciscanos construyeron sus templos y conventos en la traza urbana de la ciudad.

From Guanajuato, we visit San Miguel de Allende, a World Heritage city where the morning can be spent discovering the archaeological remains or browsing the handcrafts market. In the afternoon, we photograph the early colonial architecture, or wander around the narrow streets, full of the splendour of the era of the Vice-Royalty of New Spain. Another essential stop is in León, one of Mexico’s largest cities and a place where quality of life is among the best in the country. Here, we’ll visit the Forum Cultural Guanajuato, a leisure and culture complex comprising the city’s art and history museum, auditorium, concert hall, sculpture garden and theatre. On the way to Salvatierra, we make a stop in Dolores Hidalgo to buy some of the town’s traditional pottery, characterised by its imaginative design and elegant blue tones. History catches up with us as we arrive at our destination, Salvatierra. It’s an important hub of religion and culture from the Vice-Royalty era, used as a centre for the Catholic conversion of the people of the Huatzindeo Valley, and where the Capuchin Sisters and Barefoot Carmelite nuns and Franciscan monks built their temples and convents within the city. We follow the path of religious conversion to Yuriria, a magical pueblo where indigenous traditions combine with the colonial architectures of its churches and convents combine, but where we can also enjoy nature by visiting its lagoon and crater-lake. To finish, you can pay a visit to the mysterious ruins of Mineral de Pozos or Jalpa de Cánovas, and marvel at the beauty of its colonial architecture in the heart of Mexico. ●

• Avoid crossing your legs when you are seated. • Avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol and coffee. • Ensure you stay hydrated by drinking enough liquids. • Leave the area between you and the seat in front clear so that you can stretch and move your legs. Try to obtain as much mobility as possible in your seat and avoid placing luggage in front of it. • Do bending and stretching exercises on each foot frequently as well as curling and uncurling the toes of each foot.

• When conditions permit and you are allowed to do so, stand up in the area of your seat and stretch your arms and legs. • Move the lower parts of your body (toes, ankles, etc) while seated. • Travel in loose, comfortable clothing avoiding tight-fitting garments.

Y su peso no debe superar 10 kgs. No obstante, elementos como bolsos de mano, libros de bolsillo, prendas de abrigo, paraguas o bastón serán aceptados a bordo sin necesidad de ser etiquetados ni pesados.

Evelop allows passengers to bring only one piece of hand luggage onboard which should not exceed the following dimensions and weight: 50 x 45 x 25 cms, and weight cannot exceed more than 10 kgs. However objects such as handbags, paperback books, coats, umbrellas or walking sticks can be brought onboard without previously being weighed or labelled.

El consumo a bordo de bebidas alcohólicas embarcadas por el pasajero o compradas en la venta a bordo está totalmente prohibido. El único consumo de alcohol permitido a bordo es el servido por nuestras tripulación de cabina en nuestro servicio de bar.

The only alcoholic beverages allowed to be consumed on the aircraft are those served by our cabin crew during the bar service. It is strictly prohibited to consume alcoholic beverages brought onboard by the passenger or purchased during the onboard sales service.

En nuestros vuelos intercontinentales y europeos y en todos los que tienen origen o destino Canarias, disponemos de música y cine a bordo. Para poder disfrutarlo le ofrecemos auriculares al precio de 4 Euros. Estos auriculares son compatibles con la mayoría de aparatos electrónicos.

A comprehensive selection of audio and video programmes are available to our passengers on all intercontinental flights and most European flights from mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands. In order to enjoy this service, headsets are available on request at the price of 4 Euros. These headsets are compatible with most electronic systems.

Safety measures

Desde el 6 de Noviembre del 2006, la Unión Europea (UE) ha adoptado nuevas medidas de seguridad que restringen la cantidad de líquidos o sustancias de consistencia similar que los pasajeros pueden llevar consigo cuando pasan los controles de seguridad de los aeropuertos comunitarios. Estas medidas son aplicables a todos los pasajeros que salgan de los aeropuertos de la UE, independientemente de su destino. Las nuevas medidas no limitan la adquisición por los pasajeros de estos líquidos o sustancias en las tiendas situadas más allá del punto de control donde usted muestra su tarjeta de embarque o a bordo de las aeronaves operadas por una aerolínea de la UE.

Since 6th November 2006, the European Union has adopted new security measures restricting the volume of liquids or similar substances which passengers are allowed to carry with them through security controls in European airports. These measures are applicable to all passengers leaving EU airports, regardless of their destination. However, the new measures do not limit passengers from obtaining these liquids or substances from shops situated beyond the control point where a boarding pass must be shown, or onboard aircraft operated by a EU airline.

¿Qué es nuevo?

What is new?

Mientras hace su equipaje:

Sólo le está permitido llevar en su equipaje de mano pequeñas cantidades de líquidos. Estos líquidos tienen que ir en pequeños contenedores con una capacidad individual máxima de 100ml. Cada pasajero tiene que empaquetar estos contenedores en una bolsa transparente de plástico con autocierre de no más de un litro de capacidad máxima, para facilitar la inspección de estos productos en los controles de seguridad. Los pasajeros deberán proveerse de dichas bolsas antes del inicio de su viaje. A efectos de las nuevas medidas, se consideran líquidos: • Agua y otras bebidas, sopas, jarabes • Cremas, lociones y aceites, incluida la pasta de dientes • Perfumes • Gel, como por ejemplo, gel de ducha o champú • Contenidos de contenedores presurizados, incluido espuma de afeitar, otras espumas y desodorantes • Aerosoles • Cualquier otro de consistencia similar

En el aeropuerto

• Presentar todos los líquidos dentro de la bolsa citada, separadamente del equipaje de mano, y colocarla en la bandeja proporcionada al efecto en los controles de seguridad, para su examen por parte de los empleados de seguridad. • Quitarse su chaqueta y/o abrigo y colocarlos en la bandeja. Estas prendas tendrán que ser examinadas separadamente mientras usted es inspeccionado. • Sacar su ordenador portátil y cualquier otro dispositivo electrónico de dimensiones similares de sus fundas correspondientes, y colocarlos en la bandeja para que sean inspeccionados separadamente de dichas fundas en los controles de seguridad.

¿Qué no cambia? Usted puede todavía:

• Llevar los productos autorizados, incluidos los líquidos y sustancias relacionados en el apartado anterior, en las maletas que usted factura; las nuevas medidas sólo afectan al equipaje de mano. • Llevar en su equipaje de mano medicinas y comida para bebés, para su uso durante el viaje, presentándolos separadamente en los controles de seguridad, pero no dentro de la bolsa transparente. • Comprar líquidos como bebidas y perfumes, bien en cualquier tienda de los aeropuertos de la UE cuando éstas estén situadas más allá del punto de control de seguridad o bien a bordo de una aeronave operada por una aerolínea europea. Si estos productos son vendidos en bolsas selladas, no las abra hasta que no haya finalizado su viaje. Si usted va a continuar su viaje en otro aeropuerto de la UE, no abra esta bolsa sellada hasta que haya salido del último aeropuerto comunitario.

While preparing your luggage:

Only small amounts of liquid are allowed to be carried in the hand luggage. Such liquids must be transported in small containers, with an individual maximum capacity of 100ml. Each passenger must package these containers in a self-sealing, transparent, plastic bag, of no more than one-litre capacity to facilitate inspection of these products at security controls. Passengers must obtain such bags before beginning their journey. Liquids include: • Water and other drinks, soups, syrups • Creams, lotions and oils, including toothpaste • Perfumes • Gels, such as shower gel or shampoo • Content of pressurised containers, including shaving foam and other foams and deodorants • Aerosols • Any other substance of a similar consistency

At the airport

• All liquids must be presented within the aforementioned bag, separately from hand luggage and placed in the tray provided for that purpose by security controls, to be examined by the security personnel. • Passengers must remove their jacket and/or coat and place them in a tray. These garments must be examined separately during the inspection. • Passengers must remove their laptop computer or any other electronic device of similar dimensions from its case, and place it in a tray to be inspected separately from its case at security controls.

What does not change? You still can:

• Carry authorized products, including liquids and similar substances mentioned in the previous section, in your checked baggage; the new measures only affect hand luggage. • Carry medicines and baby food in your hand luggage, for use during the trip, presenting them separately at the security controls, but not in a transparent bag. • Buy liquids such as beverages and perfumes from shops situated beyond the control point or on board aircrafts operated by an EU airline.

Les informamos que algunos de los productos que ofrecemos a bordo de nuestros vuelos pueden contener ingredientes alérgenos para algunos pasajeros con algún tipo de intolerancia o alergia incluyendo las trazas. Les recordamos que es responsabilidad del pasajero llevar la medicación adecuada y otras medidas de protección que pueda necesitar durante el vuelo.

Please be aware that some of the products we offer on board our flights may contain allergens, or traces of allergens, that may affect passengers with an allergy or intolerance. Please remember that it is the passenger’s responsibility to carry the required medication and other protective measures that they may require during the flight.

Si usted sufre cualquier tipo de alergia  o intolerancia, siempre deberá llevar consigo la  medicación necesaria e inyectables. Si usted sufre alergia o intolerancia a algún tipo de alimento, incluidos los frutos secos, no podremos confirmarle que el menú ofrecido esté libre de ellos, ya que es imposible para Evelop/Orbest garantizar esta circunstancia con las empresas suministradoras de alimentos y/o los proveedores que tengan subcontratados. Lamentamos informarles que por parte de Evelop/Orbest no es posible garantizar que otros pasajeros lleven alimentos conteniendo los productos y/o derivados a los que usted sea alérgico o intolerante. Como muestra de nuestra preocupación por su bienestar y previa autorización por su parte,  nuestra tripulación informará al resto de pasajeros del vuelo con la intención de evitar el consumo de los productos que puedan ocasionarle cualquier tipo de reacción.  Nuestras aeronaves se limpian de forma regular de conformidad con la normativa y usos del sector del transporte aéreo, pero esta limpieza no garantiza la eliminación de dichos alérgenos y los filtros de aire de las citadas aeronaves tampoco han sido diseñados para eliminar tales sustancias, razón por la  cual no podemos asegurar su ausencia ni exposición a bordo durante el vuelo y por ello le  instamos a tomar las precauciones médicas necesarias en caso de exposición.

If these products are sold in sealed bags, do not open them until your trip is finished. If you are going to continue your trip to another EU airport, do not open the sealed bag until you have left the last EU airport.

If you suffer from any kind of allergy or intolerance, you must always carry your required medication or injection with you. If you suffer from any kind of food allergy or intolerance, including nuts, we cannot guarantee that the menu offered is free from them, since it is impossible for Evelop/Orbest to guarantee this with food supply companies and/or their sub-contracted suppliers. We are sorry to inform you that Evelop/Orbest are unable to guarantee whether or not other passengers are carrying foods that contain the products and/or derivatives to which you are allergic or intolerant. As an indication of our concern for your wellbeing and with your prior authorisation, our cabin crew will inform the other passengers on the flight, with the intention of avoiding the consumption of the products that may cause you any kind of reaction.  Our aircraft are cleaned regularly in accordance with the regulations for use indicated by the air transport industry, but this cleaning does not guarantee the elimination of allergens, and nor are the air filters in the aforementioned aircraft designed to eliminate said substances. For this reason, we cannot ensure their absence or presence on board during the flight, and so we urge you to take the medical precautions you require in case of exposure. All of the special meals available at Evelop/Orbest are recognised by the IATA [International Air Transport Association]. Please do not hesitate to complete and submit the following form if you would like to request a special meal.
