The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for scientific research using neutrons. We welcomes over 2000 visits of scientists per year to carry out world-class research. Are you interested in joining our international institute? Our Reactor Division currently has a vacancy for a:

MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (m/f) Duties : As a member of the Fluids Group, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the reactor’s fluids circuits and associated mechanical equipment, as well as the chemical analyses required for reactor operation, and the management of welding operations, you will be responsible for the cooling and pump systems. Your duties will involve: 

operating, maintaining and repairing the above equipment;



monitoring work carried out by sub-contractors;



performing statutory tests and inspections;



designing and implementing modifications to improve the equipment;



drafting procedures, technical specifications, reports, etc;



assisting on an occasional basis with the operation of the other equipment under the group’s responsibility.

Training/Experience: 

We are seeking candidates with:



a technical qualification (e.g. BTEC HND) in mechanical, thermal or maintenance engineering,



experience in pump system maintenance and an ability to perform simple fluid mechanics calculations (pressure loss, heat balance, operating point, etc.),



good writing and analytical skills (procedures, specifications and technical reports).

Experience in work within industrial nuclear installations would be an advantage. We are looking for someone with practical all-round experience, a strong sense of initiative, capable of working either independently or in a team.

Language skills : As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
