The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) is an international scientific research centre situated in Grenoble, France. It is Europe's leading neutron science facility. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, reliably delivering intense neutron beams to 40 unique experimental stations (known as “instruments”). Every year we welcome more than 2000 visiting scientists to carry out world-class research using these instruments. To strengthen our team responsible for the administration of EU-funded research projects, we are looking for an:

EU PROJECT MANAGER (m/f) Duties: You will work in the ILL’s European office and play a role in all aspects of EU project management from identifying calls for funding, through proposal set-up and grant preparation to project monitoring and reporting. You will work closely with the ILL project leaders and assist the consortium supported by the projects. You will interact effectively with scientists and engineers to limit their administrative workload to a reasonable level. Your duties will include the following: • Reporting and follow-up of a number of EU projects • Ensuring the technical reporting for projects such as SINE2020 • Organising meetings (external/virtual/internal) and writing minutes and notes • Following-up and driving internal projects, e.g. developing tools for efficient project management • Developing an open data management plan and matching internal requirements to those of the EU funding agencies.

Qualifications and Experience : • You have a Master’s degree in European Governance or a similar experience • Proven experience of managing research projects and sound understanding of the grant application processes • Experience of administering research funding programmes • You are interested in and enthusiastic about science and its applications and feel comfortable communicating with scientific researchers and research managers • Knowledge and experience of managing projects under the EU Framework Programmes, H2020 or similar national schemes would be a distinct advantage • Proficiency in MS Office • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Language skills : As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. A French language course will be paid for by the ILL. Knowledge of German would be an advantage.

Notes : This a “specified-purpose” fixed-term contract for a minimum of 18 months funded by the European project FILL2030..
