We are Glad You are Here!   MSU  is  a  student-­‐founded  student-­‐led  club   that  seeks  to  both  educate  and  lead  the  LPC   community  into  a  strong  diverse  community   that  seeks  reconciliation  between  our  fellow   brothers  and  sisters.  We  desire  to  have  not   only  a  presence  that  causes  change  for   diversity  on  campus,  but  also  to  be  a   launching  ground  for  students  to  carry  out   the  message  and  work  of  justice  and   reconciliation  into  our  communities  as  well   as  the  world  beyond.  We  do  this  through   educational  workshops,  open  forums,  and   providing  opportunities  for  people  to  come   and  share  their  stories  and  represent  their   heritage.  We  want  to  create  a  community   that  treasures  each  other  and  our  stories  in   order  to  better  learn  from  others  and   appreciate  our  unique  backgrounds  and   where  we  have  come  from.                      One  thing  we  say  here  at  MSU  is  that   “Everybody  has  a  place  at  the  table.”  We   believe  in  doing  Community  the  way  Jesus   asked  us  too,  by  living  life  together  and   standing  up  for  the  one  who  is  pushed  to  the   outside.  In  doing  life  and  hearing  each  other   and  standing  up  for  others,  there  are  times   where  we  become  uncomfortable  and  even   rejected,  but  this  is  a  small  price  to  pay  for   living  out  the  message  that  Jesus  gave  us.  So

will  you  join  us  in  this  struggle?  Will  you  take   your  seat  at  the  table?     MSU  es  un  club  fundado  y  dirigido  por  estudiantes   que  buscan  educar  y  dirigir  a  la  comunidad  de  LPC   en  ser  una  comunidad  fuerte  y  diversa  que  busca   la  reconciliación  entre  nuestros  hermanos  y   hermanas.  Deseamos  tener  no  sólo  una  presencia   que  causa  cambios  para  la  diversidad  en  campus,   pero  tambien  queremos  ser  un  terreno  de   lanzamiento  para  que  los  estudiantes  pueden   llevar  el  mensanje  y  el  trabajo  de  justicia  y   reconciliación  en  nuestras  comunidades  y  el   mundo  más  allá.  Lo  hacemos  a  través  de  talleres   educativos,  foros  abiertos  y  proveyendo   oportunidades  para  que  la  gente  venga  a   compartir  sus  historias  y  representar  su   patrimonio  cultural.  Queremos  crear  una   comunidad  que  se  atesore  unos  a  otros  y  nuestras   historias  con  el  fin  de  aprender  de  los  demás  y   apreciar  nuestros  origens  únicos  y  de  donde   hemos  venido.   Una  cosa  que  d ecimos  aquí  en  MSU  es  que   “todo  el  mundo  tiene  un  lugar  en  la  mesa.”   Creemos  en  hacer  la  Comunidad  de  la  misma   manera  que  Jesús  nos  preguntó  también,  viviendo   la  vida  juntos  y  defendiendo  a  quien  es  empujado   hacia  el  exterior.  Al  hacer  la  vida,  oírnos  y   defendernos,  hay  momentos  en  los  que  nos

Meet Jess A  sophomore  studying  HDP   this  year,  “I  am  excited  this   school  year,  to  see  how  God   continues  to  establish  His   kingdom  here  at  LPC  through   necessary  conversations  that   seek  and  lead  to  reconciliations   within  our  community,  nation   and  world”

A  junior  studying  HDP  this  y ear,  “I  am  excited  to   help  bring  awareness,  education  and  empowerment   to  the  house  we  call  Life  Pacific,  in  hope  to  change   the  cultural  and  social  frameworks  and  structures  of   the  institution;  thus  l aying  a  n ew  foundation  for  the   future.

A  senior  studying  HDP  this  y ear,  “As  our  teamis   getting  prepared  for  this  year,  I  cannot  contain   how  excited  I  am  to  see  the  n ew  faces  on  our   campus  and  to  hear  the  beautiful  diverse  stories   that  will  add  to  the  LPC  s tory.  Be  sure  to  keep  a   look  out  on  n ew  information,  n ewsletters  and   upcoming  MSU  events  through  the  s emester      

Welcome  to  Life  Pacific  College!  We  are  so  glad  that  you  are  here  and  we  know  that  it  has  probably  been  quite  the  challenge.  Know  that  you  have   successfully  made  your  way  here.     Now  comes  the  next  challenge,  walking  through  to  get  a  degree.  It’s  rough  going  to  school,  as  a  first-­‐generation  college  student  I  know  what  it’s  like   to  leave  home  and  try  and  figure  all  of  this  out.  But,  trust  me,  I  am  telling  you  as  a  senior,  you  can  do  this!  No  matter  what  obstacles  you  faced  getting   here,  and  no  matter  what  lies  ahead,  if  God  brought  you  here,  then  He  will  get  you  through.  It  is  not  an  easy  journey,  and  what  I  have  recognized   during  my  time  here  is  I  need  people  around  me  who  get  it.  I  needed  people  who  would  walk  with  me  to  get  me  to  the  other  side   We  at  MSU  know  what  it  is  like  and  we  are  here  as  a  resource  for  students  to  know  that  they  are  not  alone  and  to  be  a  connecting  point  between   students  who  may  feel  like  nobody  understands  where  they  have  come  from  or  how  their  journey  has  been,  we  want  to  be  those  who  are  here  for  you   to  share  and  to  remind  you  that  you  can  and  are  able  and  that  you  are  not  alone.

¡Bienvenido  a  Life  Pacific  College!  Estamos  muy  contentos  de  que  ustedes  estén  aquí  y  sabemos  que  probablemente  ha  sido  un  desafío.  Queremos   que  sepan  que  ustedes  han  llegado  aquí  exitosamente.     Ahora  viene  el  siguiente  desafío:  caminando  hacia  obtener  un  título.  Es  muy  difícil  ir  a  la  escuela.  Como  un  estudiante  universitario  de  primera   generación,  yo  sé  lo  que  es  salir  de  casa  y  tratar  de  averiguar  todo  esto.  Confía  en  mí.  ¡Como  un  estudiante  en  su  último  año,  te  estoy  diciendo  que   usted  si  puede  hacer  esto!  No  importa  cuáles  sean  los  obstáculos  a  los  que  se  enfrentan  para  llegar  hasta  aquí,  y  no  importa  lo  que  venga  por  delante,

si  Dios  los  trajo  aquí,  entonces  Él  los  superará.  No  es  un  paso  fácil,  y  lo  que  he  reconocido  durante  mi  tiempo  aquí  es  que  necesito  gente  alrededor  de   mí  que  entienden.  Necesitaba  gente  que  caminara  conmigo  para  llevarme  al  otro  lado.     Nosotros  en  MSU  sabemos  como  se  siente  y  estamos  aquí  como  un  recurso  para  los  estudiantes  para  que  sepan  que  no  están  solos  y  para  ser  un  punto   de  conexión  entre  los  estudiantes  que  se  pueden  sentir  que  nadie  entiende  de  dónde  han  venido  o  cómo  ha  sido  su  paso.  Queremos  ser  personas  que   están  allí  para  ti,  con  quien  puedes  compartir  y  también  para  poder  recordarles  que  si  pueden  y  son  capaces  y  no  están  solos.
