THE EXPERIENCE ABOUT HACIENDA DEL SOL GUEST RANCH RESORT Our purpose and mission is to preserve Hacienda Del Sol’s tradition of spirited southwestern hospitality and provide the best stay in Tucson. A Hacienda Del Sol experience is a reflection of Tucson; the region’s rich history, natural wonders, unique ecology and adventurous and pioneering people. We strive to guide our guests through an exciting discovery of this unparalleled place. To do so, we offer a multitude of opportunities to experience, learn about and enjoy Tucson within the boundaries of our secluded resort and in the vast expanse of the surrounding area. We are a boutique, historic resort with fifty-nine guest rooms and a variety of flexible meeting spaces. Our historic guest rooms were carefully refreshed in the Fall of 2014 and shortly after, we added thirty-two beautiful, new rooms to the 32-acre property. On February 12, 2016, we proudly opened our new 2,900 square foot, state-of-theart meeting space featuring incomparable city and mountain views, affectionately called Casa Luna. All of our stunning spaces feature natural sunlight,

updated audio visual equipment and authentic, southwestern decor. Our dining amenities include The Grill, our AAA Four Diamond Award winning restaurant and Terraza Garden Patio & Lounge, our casual restaurant. Live music fills both restaurants nightly for a truly enjoyable dining experience. We feature horseback riding on property and offer customized spa services as well. Our talented culinary team and can create wine tastings, cooking classes and other kitcheninspired events for you and your guests. Hacienda Del Sol’s convenient, central location is close to some of Tucson’s most cherished natural resources, like Sabino Canyon and DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun, all within a 15–20 minute drive. A 35-minute drive from Tucson International Airport, we are perfectly situated to access Tucson’s attractions such as the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (rated as one of the ten best zoos in the world), Old Tucson Studios, Pima Air and Space Museum and San Xavier del Bac Mission. Located within minutes of upscale shopping and golf, Hacienda Del Sol is the perfect place to stay.

MINIMAL IMPACT ETHICS Hacienda Del Sol is fortunate to call the Basin and Range Region home. With majestic views of the Santa Catalina, Tucson, Santa Rita and Rincon Mountains that surround the resort and the city, we have developed a great appreciation for the area, how it was formed and what it has become today. This appreciation fosters a desire to preserve the area so you and others can continue to experience it as we have, in an unaltered and pristine state. Cultural artifacts are protected by the Archaeological Resources Protection Act. It is illegal to remove or disturb archeology sites, historic sites or artifacts such as pot shards, arrowheads, structures and even antique bottles found on public lands. Enjoy and learn from historical and archeological sites, but please respect these sites and treasures. Some of these places and items are sacred to Native Americans or are important cultural reminders of pioneer heritage. Natural objects of beauty or interest such as antlers, petrified wood and colored rocks add to the mood of the backcountry and should be left so others can experience a sense of discovery. Quick movements and loud noises are stressful to animals. Travel quietly

and do not pursue, feed or force animals to flee. Do not touch, get close to, feed or pick up any wild animals. Please leave the land undisturbed for others to enjoy. Remember that our open spaces and wild lands are protected for all generations. It is up to us to keep them healthy, beautiful and open to the public for recreation, reflection and revitalization. We ask that you enjoy your time with us in the Sonoran Desert and help us to share this inspiring experience with those who follow you. Thank you for supporting our “leave no trace” philosophy and enjoy your adventure!

DESERT HIKING TIPS SAFETY INFORMATION Summer hiking presents challenges that cannot be taken lightly. Plan an early morning or evening departure to take advantage of cooler temperatures. Hiking in direct sunshine, in the heat of the day, increases your risk of a heat-related illness. Use shaded rest stops often in your travels. CARRY PLENTY OF WATER Adequate water intake is critical for a safe and enjoyable trip in the desert environment. When planning a full-day hike, water should be the heaviest item in your pack. Some desert travelers will drink at least one gallon of water per day to replenish from sweating. FUEL YOUR BODY Eating adequate amounts of food will help guarantee you are replacing the electrolytes (salts) that you are sweating out. You will need two to three times your normal food intake to meet your energy needs while hiking. PLAN YOUR TRIP CAREFULLY Always tell someone where you are going and when you will return. Check local weather forecasts and road conditions. Summer monsoons and flash floods can make travel in narrow drainages extremely dangerous. Stick with your itinerary and check in when you return. It is easy to become disoriented in the desert where many landmarks and rock formations look similar. Hacienda Del Sol’s staff are available to offer advice or help plan an itinerary. DRESS PROPERLY Protect yourself from the elements. Good hiking shoes, loose fitting, breathable fabrics with SPF protection, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are essential. A high SPF sunscreen should be applied liberally and re-applied regularly. Desert temperatures can reach over 100 degrees in the middle of the day.
