From today let us rise to the challenge JMJ to use our privilege to share the love of God we receive on Christmas to those December 24, 2017 who pass through our lives especially those in need. May the love emanating My Dearest Parish Family, from our Lord – the Christ Child - the Emmanuel inspire us to practice the God be with us always. maxim: “It is impossible to love without giving.” May each day from A Blessed Christmas and a Grace-filled Christmas onwards be an opportunity New Year to us all. to grow, to learn and to live in love. We have all done all our Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval rituals and preparation to celebrate the Birth of Our Saviour. We have decorated and brightened our homes with lights that reflect the greater light of Joy and Hope from the Manger in Bethlehem. We took time to search for gifts that would manifest our love for those who are significant in our lives. God our Loving Father reminds us that the greatest of gifts is one that comes from the heart because it is something we keep for a lifetime. He sent His Son, our Lord Jesus born of a woman so JMJ that He might show us the Way, speak of the Truth and live in God’s Love. 24 de diciembre de 2017 Christ should never be taken out of Christmas – for us who believe – our Mi Querida Familia Parroquial, greetings should always be “Merry Christmas” and never merely Happy Dios esté con nosotros siempre.

Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval

December 24th and December 25th This year Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday. All Catholics have an obligation to attend Mass twice: once celebrating the Fourth Sunday of Advent (Saturday evening or during the day Sunday) and a second time celebrating the Feast of the Nativity (Christmas Eve beginning at 4pm or Christmas Day). Mary’s example of responding “yes” to the call of God (4th Sunday of Advent Gospel) helps us respond “yes” to accepting the Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God into our lives on Christmas. Please see the Christmas schedule for Mass times.

SPECIAL COLLECTION—SANTA ROSA FIRES December 30th and December 31st Northern California has been affected by wild fires last month. The Mission of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) is “Serving those who Serve.” DECEMBER 30th & 31st The ministry of the AMS is to meet the spiritual needs of Catholics who are serving—or have served—our Country at home and abroad. The AMS is the only archdiocese, or non-profit organization, that provides the Catholic Church’s full range of pastoral ministries and spiritual services specifically to Catholics serving in the United States Armed Forces, enrolled in U.S. Military Academies, undergoing treatment at any of the 153 Department of Veterans Affairs’ Medical Centers, working in civilian jobs for the federal government beyond U.S. borders, and the families of these populations. Military chaplains are the front-line spiritual envoys who provide you and your loved one’s access to the sacraments, spiritual counseling, evangelization and catechesis, and other forms of pastoral care. The AMS receives no funding from the U.S. Government or the U.S. Military in support of its ministry and related programs and services. The AMS relies solely on private donations and the generosity of the Catholic community. This year’s, (2017-2018) RCIA class will be conducting a “free will” donation outside of Church the weekend of December 30th & 31st. Those of us who are veterans and experienced the comfort and support of Catholic Chaplin’s please remember them with your gift. Those families that have children or relatives still serving our country, please support as best you well. Look for the total accounting of your generosity in a future bulletin! Thank you. Tom Haas, Coordinator—RCIA; Adult Faith Formation 949-951-8599 ext. 231

A short course developed to help non-practicing Catholics return to the Sacraments. The course was developed reflecting Christ as community, a community of Santiago parishioners extending unconditional love and support. Look here, to the bulletin, for information regarding the next Landings gathering, sometime before lent. Now is the right time to begin talking with relatives or friends who, for whatever reason are non-practicing Catholics. Congratulations to the participants who recently completed the course in anticipation of Advent. And a heartfelt thank you to the parish team that made it a success.
