Written Programs • 2/3 of OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard violations were because the Written Program was absent or inadequate • Must be site-specific “….must be tailored to cover the specific work operations and practice in the workplace” (p. 9 of the Respirator CPL)

Written Program Elements • Procedures for selecting respirators • Medical evaluations for users • Procedures for fit-testing for tight-fitting respirators (if applicable) • Procedures for proper use during routine & emergency situations • Procedures for cleaning, storing & disinfecting • Procedures to ensure adequate air quality and flow for air supplying respirators (if applicable) • Inspection of emergency use units (if applicable) • Training on respiratory hazards • Training on proper use, donning & removing the respirator • Procedures for regularly evaluating the effectiveness of the program
